Offa robberies: I’ve sent written defence to police, says Saraki

“I have just informed my AD C to get the letter of invitation from  @PoliceNG  in respect of the allegations raised yesterday — so that I can immediately honour the alleged invitation,” Saraki said on social media.Later on the same day, Saraki said he had received a letter from the police asking him to make his defence in writing by Wednesday and not to appear in person.President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, on Thursday, said he had forwarded his written defence to the police on the allegation that he had links with armed robbery suspects arrested over the attacks on baplatforms.He wrote, “In line with their request, earlier today the police received my response to their letter on the investigation into the Offa robbery case.”It was learnt from a source in the Senate that the Senate  nks in Offa, Kwara State. Man remanded for seducing married woman

A sharia court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna on Thursday ordered the remand of one Abubakar Mustapha for allegedly enticing and wooing a married woman.Mustapha pleaded not guilty to the charges, which contravened Section 226 of the Kaduna State Sharia Penal Code 2002.His plea was not taken by the court.The judge, Mallam Musa Sa’ad, ruled that the accused be remanded in police custody pending its bail perfection.Earlier, the complainant, Yusuf Sadi, told the court that when his wife went to her parent’s house at Kafanchan to be delivered of a baby, she refused to go back to her matrimonial home, adding that Mustapha started making advances at Nusaiba.He said that the defendant had once called the complainant and told him that Nusaiba was no longer his wife.“When I travelled to Kafanchan to see my wife and our baby, Mustapha called my wife to his room and I followed her.“Upon reaching his room, he shouted at me, saying he only called my wife not me, threatening to deal with me,” he sa...

Canada Senate passes bill legalizing recreational marijuana

Canada’s Senate passed a bill Thursday legalizing recreational marijuana, moving it closer to becoming the first member of the Group of Seven nations to legalize the production, sale and consumption of the drug. Bill C-45, or the Cannabis Act, passed the Senate with 52 votes for, 30 against and one abstention after months of debate over the ramifications of legalization. he Cannabis Act will now go back to the House of Commons, which passed the bill in November 2017 but needs to sign off on changes made by the Senate.
