The Iraqi-born British architect became the  first woman to win the Pritzker Architecture Prize  (the Nobel Prize of her field) in 2004. She also received numerous other awards and honors, including being named a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DME) in 2012 and earning the Royal Institute of British Architects Gold Medal in 2015 — the first ever given to a woman. Dogara and members of the NUT Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has assured Nigerian teachers that the National Assembly will increase their retirement age from 60 to 65 years to retain more experienced teachers in public schools. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) - SpaceX is taking recycling to a whole new realm - all the way to orbit. On this week's supply run to the International Space Station, SpaceX will launch a Dragon capsule that's already traveled there. The milestone comes just two months after the launch of its first reused rocket booster. This particular Dragon flew to the station in 2014. SpaceX refurbished it for Thursday's launch. The company says it's always reused Dragon parts, but never to this extent. Most of this Dragon has already been to space, including the welded frame. It will carry 6,000 pounds of cargo, including mice and flies for medical research. Is the prosecuting arm of the EFCC strong enough to effectively halt the reign of corruption in Nigeria? Nigerians have spoken out about why the agency loses some of its cases. The war against corruption has had mixed results. The leading anti-graft agency – the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) – has recorded some successes with the recovery of looted assets. It has also lost some cases in recent times. Several factors are responsible for the loss of the cases, among which is the lack of water-tight evidence arising from poor investigations. Experts have blamed the trend on lack of thorough investigation, diligent prosecution and committed judiciary as primary reasons for the loss of some of the cases. Activist-lawyer Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), believes some of the cases were lost due to official negligence and lack of inter-agency cooperation. MMM-Nigeria, a group for mutual financial aid and donations on Monday organised a green party show in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to celebrate Nigeria’s Democracy Day. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the party, which held at the Millennium Park, was opened to members of the group and non-members alike. Enugu State former governor, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani has returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on whose platform on which he governed the state for two terms after six years. Reports have it that he has the plans to clinch party’s Enugu East senatorial ticket for 2019 election following alleged understanding between him and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. Part of the agreement with Ugwuanyi, which took PDP members by surprise, was also to single-handedly pick who would become the chairmanship candidate for Nkanu West Local Government Area. Nnamani, who represented the Senatorial district between 2007 and 2011, abandoned PDP in 2011 to form the People for Democratic Change (PDC) following a disagreement with then Governor Sullivan Chime, his anointed successor. Barcelona have appointed Ernesto Valverde as their head coach on a two-year deal, with an option for a third. Former Barca forward Valverde announced last week that he was leaving Athletic Bilbao after four years in charge. He replaces Luis Enrique, who revealed in March that he would leave the club – who finished second in La Liga – at the end of his three-year contract. Enrique led Barcelona to the treble in his first season, the domestic double in 2016 and the Copa del Rey this year. They beat  Alaves 3-1  in Sunday’s final – his last match in charge. registration for 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination closes on Friday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said that an unprecedented number of 1.7m candidates registered for the examination. About 1.2million candidates registered for the UTME in 2015 and 2016 respectively. With a cost of N5,000 per registration form (excluding an additional N500 for the reading text), our correspondent learnt that the board raked in N8.5bn from the sale of forms. The Head of Information, JAMB, Mr. Fabian Benjamin, who said that the number of registered candidates have “never been recorded in the history of the board’’, however, noted that JAMB had put in place adequate facilities to accommodate the upsurge in the number of candidates.
